Bang Your Head

Have you ever awakened in the middle of the night wanting a drink of water, gone to the kitchen without turning on a light,  misjudged the doorway by about a foot and walked smack into the wall? Yeah, me neither —  that is until last night. I almost knocked myself out.  Makes you feel kinda foolish, doesn’t it. You’re relieved that the lights are off and no one saw you do it — that is until your honey yells from the bedroom and asks if you’re okay and what that loud crash was.  Then you can either lie and say you dropped a stack of encyclopedias or you can tell the truth.  you decide to tell the truth and your honey laughs at you. You get all huffed up and flounce off to the living room and sit on the couch, rubbing your cheek bone and the bridge of your nose, hoping the collision won’t leave a bruise. Then the next morning you are surfing around the Internet and you read the following “fascinating fact” on a website: “Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour.” You wonder if this means banging it only one time or banging it unceasingly for an hour.  You decide to go with banging it only once and you feel good that you used up 150 calories last night while going for a drink of water.

Here are some more supposedly “fun and fascinating facts” that I read.  I will leave it up to my readers to decide if they are fascinating, or fun, or even if they are real facts.  Knock yourselves out.

  • The microwave was invented after a researcher walked by a radar tube and a chocolate bar melted in his pocket.
  • It is estimated that millions of trees in the world are accidentally planted by squirrels who bury nuts and then forget where they hid them!
  • An ostrich’s eye is bigger than it’s brain.
  • A cat has 32 muscles in each ear.
  • Walt Disney was afraid of mice.
  • A shrimp’s heart is in its head.
  • No word in the English language rhymes with month, orange, silver or purple.
  • In England, the Speaker of the House is not allowed to speak.—

Ouch! Was it more fun than going for a bike ride or a long walk?

    I hope so.

It’s too bad that we can’t train the squirrels to plant only the trees we want!

My life sucks so much that I’m constantly banging my head against the wall. So why am I not thin?

P.S. — Don’t let Moooog see the headline on this post.

    Leeuna,

I’m a new visitor to your fabulous web site and have enjoyed reading your posts and interaction with your readers over the past couple of weeks.

I wonder then if I need a stronger word that foolish, the next time I walk into a wall, door or door frame in bright daylight. My mind wanders, and sometimes just keeps wandering.

Maybe I should invest in some protective gear.

Thanks for the nice comment Caroline. I hope you will visit often. As for the protective head gear, well that might be a good idea. I might get some for myself as well. :D
