I can’t believe my blog is rated PG -13. Well, maybe I can but the reason given for the rating is hilarious. Have they changed the rating system since cursing, sex, and nudity has come to network TV?
This rating was determined based on the presence of the following words:
dead (2x) death (1x)
Greetings and Salutations from the Foster Home. If you’ve been visiting my blog lately, I know that you are most likely annoyed by the Valentine’s Day greeting in the last post. What with it being March and twenty-one days past Valentine’s Day and all. So I thought it was time I updated it to something more current (why does the word current look like it’s misspelled? Do you ever do that — look at a word you’ve typed and it just looks wrong? Maybe it’s just me.)
Anyway, since I’m on the subject of words and also because I don’t have anything to write about anyway, I would like to ask a question: Do you have any words that annoy you whenever people misuse them? I think my biggest two pet peeves with the misuse of words is patronize and nauseous.
Whenever I’m watching a show on TV and someone says “don’t patronize me” and they pronounce it to rhyme with “ate” instead of “at” I want to punch them in the head. (unless they mean they don’t want someone to be a patron of their establishment. Then I don’t mind) but otherwise whooooo boy!
The same thing with nauseous. If someone says they are nauseous, chances are they’re right — they ARE making me sick. Otherwise they should say they are nauseated, which is what this post is making me right now so I’m going to stop whining.

PS. If I can get my camera to upload the photos (stupid piece of junk) I will post some of my latest crochet creations. I’ve made several baby sweaters, caps and booties. Also some purses and scarves that I’m very proud of. I have become quite the crocheting fool.

The federal government has given BP until the end of the weekend to find ways to speed up efforts to contain huge amounts of oil gushing from the ruptured well in the Gulf of Mexico.
BP PLC says that a new system to trap the oil gushing from the well could take until mid-July to complete.
As you can see from the video below, BP has it’s brightest minds working together to find a solution to that problem and others.
Caution: (The f-bomb is dropped near the end) My apologies — I couldn’t beep it out as I didn’t make the video.
Have a great weekend, everyone.

So, we see by our trusty calendar on the wall that it’s Monday again.
I love Mondays. Mondays mean everyone goes back to work, it’s business as usual and time to begin a brand new week. We can forget all the mistakes we made the week before and start fresh.
We can forget about all the things we should have done but didn’t, and the things we did that we shouldn’t have. We can forget all those failures and false starts.
Second chances are a wonderful thing. I’m glad we have them.
Speaking of second chances, Paul Theroux wrote: “Fiction gives us a second chance that life denies us.”
And he’s right. In our creations of fiction we can write the world the way we want it to be, not the way it really is. We aren’t encumbered with things that happen to us by accident, pitfalls that we don’t see coming. Instead we have an outline that we follow and we plot our story around these things so that in the end everything works out and everyone lives happily ever after.
However, life isn’t a work of fiction, life is based on facts. Life is a personal essay of tragedy, comedy, pain and pleasure, with lots of references to second chances and starting over.
“Sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast,” said Alice.
So have I, Alice. So have I.

Am I the only one who thinks Taylor Swift looks like an avatar in this commercial? Don’t get me wrong, I think she is beautiful, but she just doesn’t look 100% human here. Especially the part where she is doing a sweep with the camera. Then again, I might subconsciously be jealous because her face looks like porcelain without a line, or a blemish — not even a freckle.
Meh! I don’t think it’s just me being snarky. She really does look like an avatar.
Have a great Wednesday everyone.

I didn’t have time for a post today so I thought I’d just share a couple of funny food photos that I found at www.myfoodlooksfunny.com. You can see more funny food by clicking on the photos below. Hope everyone is having a good start to their week.
“Poor Bob! Poor Mary! sniff! sniff! May they both rest in peas.”

“Lunch and a Facial. When you’re a little pressed for time.”
Due to the ash cloud from the volcano, but mainly because I’m simply feeling too lazy to write a post, this blog will be closed today. However, before we leave for the day, we will put up a couple of cartoons for your enjoyment.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far. We are under a severe weather advisory here in East TN today and tomorrow. They’re predicting thunderstorms, high winds, large hail and possible tornadoes in some areas. So, I don’t suppose I’ll be doing any outdoor activities over the weekend, that is if the weather men are correct, which they seldom are.
